The end of a chapter... but not the story

We are down to three days left open on Main Street... and Saturday will be here before we know it. However, we are happy to say for those who are asking - we are not leaving Enterprise right away. Let me preface this by saying thank you to this community! We accomplished something amazing and I could not be more proud of the Turtle. Were we not moving to Oregon and expanding out there, I know this little shop would have continued to grow and become a staple of the Wiregrass... but home is calling and we must answer <3

This journey that we've embarked on since arriving in Alabama was not anything we were expecting, but it has taught us so much. At the risk of sounding dramatic, I will say that the allies that I thought we would have turned out to be anything but - instead I found 'practitioners' living deeply in fear and scarcity mindsets, fraught with jealousy and seeing any newcomer who is not 'one of them' as a threat. It was not at all the kind, unified spiritual pagans who claimed to believe in the Law of Return or the Law of Attraction I had hoped to find. We had other business owners try to undermine us at every turn and I honestly wasn't sure if we would make it through our first three months on Main Street. But we did not get run out. We did not even get discouraged! The people in the community showed up for us. We were welcomed by all of you... the very people taking the time to read this entry. And we stayed true to who we were. We stayed in our lane, kept showing up, kept listening, kept putting ourselves out there and working with the community in our own little way... to be a place where anyone could walk into our little shop and feel welcomed, feel safe, and feel like they matter... because we all matter. Each of you matter. Each of you stepped into the Turtle not by accident. Every single soul is here for a reason, for a purpose... and the way for each person to fulfill that purpose is to embrace their most authentic self.

And that is one of the biggest lessons that we learned. No matter who you are, where you are, how nice you are or what you do - not everyone will like you or support you... but that is a GOOD thing. Always be yourself... no matter how weird or awkward or unlikable you may think that is. People appreciate the energy of authenticity. You may not make everyone you meet comfortable, you may not be comfortable around everyone you meet... but that, again, is good. Growth does not come from comfort... it occurs when there is friction and adversity. Like a seed growing in the spring.... pushing itself up through the deep, dark soil until finally it makes its way to the surface and can thrive. That is what we all are... seeds finding our way up through the heaviness and depth of life until we finally break through what is containing us so we can blossom.

No matter what you think right now, I promise that each of you has agency over yourself... your life... your world. You are the only one responsible for your success or failure. All it takes is radical honesty with yourself and accountability and you will find that you can and will be heading in the direction that you want. You cannot control the things happening around you... you can only control how you respond to those things. No matter what someone says or does, no one can make you feel any sort of way, no one can keep you stuck anywhere, and no one can make you do ANYTHING that you do not want to do. You are responsible for each of your decisions in life. Just you. No one else.

Complaining about the things you don't like doesn't make you any less responsible for them. Whatever you are not changing, you are choosing. When you choose something, you lose the right to complain or play the victim. I say this because I have lost track of the number of people in this community who found their way into Rogue Turtle - feeling lost, feeling like they had no control over how their life was, feeling like they were the victims of their partner's behaviour, their upbringing, their financial situation, or simply of living in the 'Bible Belt'... only to realize that none of those things were actually true and many of those people have changed their life, or pieces of their life, just from shifting their mindset and doing the work.

Each of those individuals took a risk and bet on themselves... and they won! They realized that they were worth investing time into... and now are heading on journeys of their own. Even if that journey is learning to give themselves the grace that they give others... it is life changing (and it is actually quite a difficult thing for most people to do, myself included).

I am so very grateful to have met everyone that I have since beginning as vendors during the Main Street festivals and while we grew the shop. Each person taught me something valuable that I needed in order to grow, even when those lessons were uncomfortable or downright heartbreaking... and I would never change any of it. So for all of you coming in and thanking us for opening up Rogue Turtle, and for saying how much our shop was needed in Enterprise because we actually cared about the people - I must thank you all as well. Thank you for supporting us and showing up no matter what was going on in the city, the state or the country. You have been amazing and we could not be more grateful to be a part of your journey.

And now... with all that being said (man, can I ramble on.... ) moving forward, things will obviously look a little different.

First, we are going to be shifting how we interact with social media. Not only is it ridiculously restrictive in what can and cannot be talked about, we do not agree with how manipulative and just plain detrimental that system is to the physical, mental and spiritual health of the world at large. To make matters more pressing, our person helping with social media was pulled elsewhere. We, like many others, have developed such a love/hate relationship with socials due to how much it messes with our nervous systems.

Given how we feel about the addictiveness of social media, we want to break free of the algorithm and mindless scrolling... we can't complain about the straight up evilness of social media manipulation if we are choosing to stay on it. Because of that, we are moving to automate as much as we can on Facebook & instagram, directing people to this website. We want to be intentional in our interactions and continue to develop relationships with those we have grown to know by building a trusted community. One that will last no matter where we roam... because of that we want to keep that all in one place where we have control over content - so we will be moving toward doing everything through this website, YouTube and eventually build a patronage supported (by donation) network within the Rogue Turtle Collective where we can hold monthly zoom gatherings, classes, workshops, etc.

Although the retail shop is closing, I will be moving the service side of the business to a suite on Boll Weevil Circle. This move is changing my work schedule to appointment only. Services I will be offering will include, but are not limited to:

• Reiki

• Healing sessions (in-person & distance)

• Pregnancy, labor & post-partum sessions

• Certification classes (private & group sessions)

• Energy Work sessions (chakra workshops, cord cuttings, etc)

• Tarot Readings

• Shadow Work sessions (defining entry points, establishing a container, creating a plan, bi-weekly check-ins, etc)

• Spiritual coaching/mentoring

We will be here in Enterprise through the first half of 2026 and will be heading out about summer, so my services are still available just in a different manner. The website will have jewelry, some crystals, ritual kits, herbs, and a handful of other things available. We are also still looking at doing workshops over zoom for a variety of topics, including the sabbats and some some basic astrology to help with moon cycles/rituals and other impactful astrological events.
