
Reiki Aftercare: What to Expect & How to Support Your Healing
Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your healing & wellness process through Reiki. It is something that I feel truly honoured to facilitate for my clients. As your energy continues to shift and integrate, here are some supportive practices to help you feel your best in the hours and days after your session:
Hydrate

Drink plenty of water to support your body’s natural detox process. Herbal teas are also a gentle way to nourish your system.
Rest + Reflect

Give yourself time to rest, journal, or simply be still. Reiki continues to work for up to 72 hours after your session. Listen to your body’s needs—whether it asks for sleep, solitude, or gentle movement.

Some clients begin journaling when they start reiki. This is extremely helpful if you are working on releasing grief, trauma of any sort, working on setting healthy boundaries, or any other manner of self-healing. If you are interested in journaling prompts to get you started, please reach out.
Emotional Release is Normal

You may feel lighter, more emotional, or introspective. These shifts are natural and often part of the healing process. Let emotions come and go without judgment.
Avoid Stimulants & Heavy Foods

If possible, avoid alcohol, caffeine, or overly processed foods for 24–48 hours. Choose grounding meals like root vegetables, whole grains, and leafy greens.
Grounding Practices

Walk barefoot on the earth, go for a swim, take a salt bath, spend time in nature, or meditate with grounding crystals like black tourmaline, red jasper, or smoky quartz. Beach is a bonus!
Gentle Movement + Breathwork

Support energy flow with light yoga, stretching, breathwork, or meditation. These intentional practices help integrate the healing and promote continued balance.
Trust Your Intuition

Reiki is different for each person, and each session is different no matter how many times you receive reiki. You may feel drawn to certain rituals, foods, people, or rest. Honour whatever arises. Your inner wisdom knows what’s best for your healing path.
Healing – whether physical, emotional or spiritual - is not linear, nor is it typically “one and done”. It is a process with many twists, turns, ups and downs… but we do find growth, strength and alignment in every intentional step we take.
As you continue your Reiki journey, I am here to support you. Most clients benefit from a series of sessions depending on their goals or needs. I personally recommend monthly sessions as part of a regular holistic wellness/energy maintenance routine; however, some individuals prefer weekly or bi-weekly sessions.
